When the Beyond TV show kicked off last year, Freeform released the whole season of 10 episodes online, after just two had aired on the cable network. Perhaps that’s why it wasn’t cancelled, despite ratings that have spelled the end for other TV series — including those on Freeform. Can the Y.A. drama build up its linear audience in the second season? Does it need to, or has Freeform’s target audience largely forsaken cable for streaming? Will Beyond be cancelled or renewed for season three? Stay tuned.
A science-fiction mystery, Beyond stars Burkely Duffield, Romy Rosemont, Michael McGrady, Jonathan Whitesell, Dilan Gwyn, Jeff Pierre, and Eden Brolin. The Freeform TV show follows Holden Matthews (Duffield), who woke after a dozen years in a coma to find himself at the center of a conspiracy in a changed world. Season two kicks off with Holden thinking he has completed his mission within the Realm and that he and Willa (Gwyn) can live out normal lives. Soon though, he’ll have to question if that’s what he really wants and whether or not the Realm still poses a threat to him and his loved ones. **Status update, below.
