What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the ABC television network, Big Fan is a game show based on the “Who knows?” segment on Jimmy Kimmel Live. In the series, three of a featured celebrity’s biggest fans compete to prove which of them is the ultimate super fan. The players compete to correctly answer the most trivia and biographical questions about the star. In the end, the most knowledgeable fan goes head-to-head with the actual celebrity. Fans who manage to beat the stars are rewarded with a golden “Little Fan” award, as well as a custom fan experience with their idols. First season celebrities include Kristen Bell, Kim Kardashian West, Matthew McConaughey, and Aaron Rodgers. Andy Richter hosts.
Season One Ratings
The first season of Big Fan averaged a 0.85 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.879 million viewers. Learn how Big Fan stacks up against the other ABC TV shows.
Big Fan was not renewed for a second season. Could it be revived someday? Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
While the ratings weren’t particularly impressive, it must be dirt cheap to produce. The “Little Fan” award is an actual working rotary fan, after all. When ABC announced it had ordered Big Fan, the press release did not mention an episode count. I suspect this series will quickly be forgotten by the network.
