Bless This Mess: Season Two Renewal Announced for ABC Sitcom

(ABC/John Fleenor)

ABC is cleaning out parts of its slate but is keeping one of its newest entries. The alphabet network has renewed the Bless This Mess TV show for a second season.

A fish-out-of-water sitcom, Bless This Mess stars Lake Bell, Dax Shepard, Ed Begley Jr., Pam Grier, David Koechner, JT Neal, and Madison Curry. The single-camera comedy centers on newlyweds Mike and Rio (Shepard and Bell), after they decide to forsake the hustle and bustle of New York City for a more pastoral life in Nebraska. Once the couple arrives in cornhusker country, it doesn’t take them too long to figure out that living a simple life requires a lot of hard work. Bell co-created the series with Elizabeth Meriwether.

Airing on Tuesday nights, the first season of Bless This Mess is averaging a 0.73 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.82 million viewers.

Out of the 21 scripted ABC TV shows of the 2018-19 season, Bless This Mess is in 13th place in the demo and 12th in viewership.

What do you think? Do you enjoy the Bless This Mess TV show? Should it have been cancelled instead of renewed for a second season?
