Blindspot: Early Season Two Renewal for New NBC TV Show

Blindspot TV show on NBC: season 2It’s official. NBC has handed out the first new series renewal. Monday night drama Blindspot will return for a second season.

On Blindspot, a Jane Doe (Jaimie Alexander) is found inside a body bag that’s been left in Times Square. It’s marked for the attention of the FBI. Suspecting a bomb, the agents are shocked to see Jane emerge naked and covered with complex tattoos. Having no memory and having no records of her existence, the tattoos provide the only clues as to the woman’s identity. Supervising Agent Kurt Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) is brought in and is shocked to find his name inked on her back. The rest of the cast includes Audrey Esparza, Rob Brown, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Ukweli Roach, and Ashley Johnson.

With The Voice as a lead-in, Blindspot has been doing well for NBC and is the network’s highest-rated scripted series. The seven episodes that have aired so far have averaged a 2.44 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 8.71 million viewers (live + same day).

“We are over the moon with the success of Blindspot, and want to thank our producers and amazing cast for creating one of the most riveting shows on television,” said NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke. “Jaimie and Sullivan have done an amazing job of ratcheting up the tension each week in trying to unravel the mystery of Jane’s tattoos. We literally can’t wait to see what the second season will bring.”
