Bones: A Two Season Renewal? Creator Wants Season 10

Bones renewalAt last night’s PaleyFest panel for FOX’s Bones, creator and executive producer Hart Hanson and executive producer Stephen Nathan talked about the future of the TV show.

While Bones hasn’t actually been renewed for season eight, Hanson is confident that the series will be back next year and likely for season nine after that. He said, “There’s always the business side between the studio and the network, and they have to figure our license fees and things… But, I hate to say this, in many ways, Bones is FOX’s most successful hour-long scripted drama. I’m pretty confident that we’ll be back for seasons eight and nine.”

Hanson told THR, “There are rumors that they’d like to pick us up for two seasons, we’ll see… But I feel very, very confident about season eight. If I think about season nine, my head starts to hurt.”

The show creator also noted he’d like Bones to run even longer than that, saying, “I’d like season 10… After that, there would have to be another huge change in the series. But I can see through to season 10. Who knows if they want us that long or not.”

As fans know, FOX ordered a shorter-than-usual sixth season of Bones this year because of Emily Deschanel’s real-life pregnancy. Four additional episodes were later ordered and produced. Last night, it was shared that they were created as stand-alone episodes, aren’t part of this season’s arc, and it’s unclear when they’ll be scheduled.

When asked how they felt about being moved to Monday nights, Hanson said, “Good. I know we’re supposed to be upset… Monday nights are very, very good for us. We’ve always wanted to be with House. It’s a good match for us so we’re fine with it.”

What do you think? How long do you think Bones should run? Do you think Monday is a good move?
