What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the ABC television network, Boy Band features still undiscovered singers facing off to become part of the next music phenomenon. British singer-songwriter Rita Ora hosts the show, with Tim Mosley (a.k.a. Timbaland), Nick Carter, and Emma Bunton serving as architects, and Alan Blackstone as musical director. Just 30 contestants are selected to compete for one of 18 spots in a total of three bands. Each episode features a new theme, and the architects shuffle the members around to find the best combinations to perform on live TV. Those selected for elimination go head to head in the solo survival song round, and home viewers vote to save their favorite. In the season finale, the five man band is announced, performs their new single for the first time, and receives a Hollywood Records recording contract.

Telly’s Take
While Boy Band seems well suited for summertime viewing, the ratings started low and have gotten worse. I sincerely doubt that ABC will renew it for a second season. I’ll update this page with any developments. Subscribe for free updates on any Boy Band cancellation or renewal news.
