Break out the cakes. Food Network has announced that a new season of Cake Wars will begin airing on January 11th.
A spin-off of the popular Cupcake Wars, the series began this summer. Currently, a special Cake Wars: Christmas is airing.
Hosted by Jonathan Bennett, the show pits top bakers and cake decorators against each other in a series of creative challenges for a prize of $10,000. The creations are judged by pastry chefs Ron Ben-Israel and Waylynn Lucas.
The new season will feature 13 episodes that include Star Wars, Dr. Seuss, and Willy Wonka cakes.

New York – December 2, 2015 – The sweetest competition returns to Food Network on Monday, January 11th at 9:00pm ET/PT with even more fantastic cake creations. Four bakers battle it out on Cake Wars to create the most mind-blowing cake to star at a special event and, for the icing on the cake, a chance to take home the grand prize of $10,000! Jonathan Bennett (Mean Girls) hosts this grueling competition, as the competing bakers’ skills and imaginations are tested in two rounds of challenges, where they rush against the clock to design over-the-top cake confections.In each exhilarating episode, master pastry chefs Ron Ben-Israel (Halloween Baking Championship, Sweet Genius) and Waylynn Lucas (co-owner of Fonuts), as well as a special guest judge determine which contestant’s extraordinary creation, based on taste and presentation, will take the cake to sweeten up a big soiree and be crowned the winner.

Over the course of the 13 thrilling episodes, bakers vie for the chance to display their cake creations at big events, navigating big challenges and special themed episodes such as Star Wars, Dr. Seuss, Kung Fu Panda 3, Minecraft, Shrek, Sesame Street, Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory, Archie, Alice in Wonderland, and many more!”
