Call the Midwife returns to the US on PBS this March for its 12th season, and a new trailer has been released. The first regular season 12 episode ran last night on BBC in the UK.
Starring Jenny Agutter, Judy Parfitt, Helen George, Miranda Hart, Laura Main, Stephen McGann, Cliff Parisi, Ben Caplan, Max Macmillan, Linda Bassett, Annabelle Apsion, Leonie Elliott, Ella Bruccoleri, Daniel Laurie, Georgie Glen, Zephryn Taitte, Olly Rix, Megan Cusack, and Rebecca Gethings, the period drama series is based on the memoirs of Jennifer Worth. The story follows a group of midwives working in the East End of London in the late 1950s and 1960s.
PBS revealed the following about the upcoming season:
It’s 1968, and the nuns and nurses from Nonnatus House return for more midwifery and family life. The midwives welcome a new nun, Sister Veronica, and tension in Poplar arises following the effects of Enoch Powell’s “Rivers of Blood” speech.
Call the Midwife returns to PBS on March 19th.
