Cancelled Casting Notes for December 3, 2011

It’s no fun when our favorite shows are cancelled. Fortunately, the actors who play characters on those shows often show up in other projects. It’s what we like to call “cancelled casting.” Here’s where you’ll be able to find some of your favorite performers:

MTV’s Teen Wolf is getting three new cast members. Battlestar Galactica’s Michael Hogan will play Allison’s (Crystal Reed) grandfather, a lethal werewolf hunter who wants her to follow in his footsteps. Stephen Lunsford (Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight) has been hired to play Matt, a photography-loving teen who will compete with Scott for Allison’s attention.

Also on Teen Wolf, Daniel Sharman (The Nine Lives of Chloe King) will be seen as a troubled student who’s a new member of the lacrosse team. John Wesley Shipp (Dawson’s Creek) is playing his father for two episodes. He’s a not-so-nice dad who owns a local cemetery. Shipp begins shooting next week in Atlanta.

All My Children’s James Patrick Stuart is playing the father of Tripp (Logan Miller), the lead character in Disney XD’s new I’m in the Band series. The show revolves around a teen who joins his favorite classic rock band to help them with their comeback. Stuart will play his archaeologist father who drops in — Indiana Jones-style — after years of being away. The episode airs December 9th.

Eliza Dushku (Dollhouse) is guest-starring on FX’s The League next Thursday, December 8th. She’ll be playing a Krav Maga instructor after Kevin’s wife encourages him to work out more. Actor Stephen Rannazzisi (Big Day) says that there’s a lot of sexual tension between his and Dushku’s character.

Michael Chiklis and Forest Whitaker, who worked together on The Shield, have been signed to star in an indy crime movie called Pawn. They’ll work alongside Hell on Wheel’s Common and Smith’s Ray Liotta. The movie revolves around a chess game of intrigue between federal officials, local police, and the mob. Also joining the cast are Sean Faris (Reunion) and Nikki Reed (The OC).

Now that Chuck is coming to a close, Ryan McPartlin has found himself a job on TV Land. He’ll be appearing on Hot in Cleveland for one episode and will be playing opposite Susan Lucci (All My Children). She’ll be continuing to play a sitcom version of herself.

Ernie Hudson (Oz) has signed on for a guest spot on The CW’s Hart of Dixie. He’ll be playing the father of Cress Williams (Prison Break). Hudson will pay a visit early next year and he comes bearing bad news for the town’s Mayor.

Comic veterans Kevin Nealon (Champs) and Martin Mull (Roseanne) are coming to TNT’s Franklin & Bash in season two. Nealon will personify a party guy who’s also the head council for a beverage company. Mull will be playing a judge who gets treated to a water tank stunt by Peter (NYPD Blue’s Mark-Paul Gosselaar) and Jared (Inside Schwartz’s Breckin Meyer).
