The Cleveland Show: FOX TV Show Gets 22 Episode Order for Season Three

FOX has been very happy with their Family Guy spin-off, The Cleveland Show. The first season has just finished airing and they’ve already given it a third season renewal.

The Cleveland Show, revolves around Peter Griffin’s pal, Cleveland Brown (Mike Henry), who moves back to his hometown in Virginia to get married. The animated series also stars Sanaa Lathan, Kevin Michael Richardson, Seth MacFarlane, Nia Long, Jason Sudeikis, Seth Green, Arianna Huffington, Alec Sulkin, John Viener, Reagan Gomez-Preston, and Aaron Krebs.

Cleveland had been ordered to series back in May 2008 and was expected to debut by mid-season 2008-09. In November 2008, FOX ordered additional nine episodes, bringing the first season total to 22.

FOX execs later decided to delay Cleveland’s premiere and give it a big launch in the Fall of 2009. They had such faith that in May 2009 they renewed it for a second year of 13 episodes, several months before the show even premiered.

Their faith wasn’t misguided and Cleveland debuted in September 2009 to solid numbers. A month later, the network gave the go-ahead for nine more episodes to round out season two.

Now, FOX has ordered a third season of episodes. And, instead of ordering just 13 installments as has been done in the past, FOX has ordered a full 22 episode season up front. That means that viewers will be seeing fresh episodes through the 2011-12 season.

Of the early renewal, young character Rallo Tubbs said, “Looks like somebody’s gettin’ some new rims for his Big Wheel! Many thanks to the handsome decision makers at FOX.”

The network announcement also teased what is to come in season two.

In its upcoming second season, Cleveland attempts to prove his athletic prowess, ROBERTA (Gomez) gets distracted with a new love interest and RALLO (Henry) pals around with three new friends voiced by Grammy Award winners will.i.am and T-Pain and comedy legend Carl Reiner. Additionally, the Brown family hits the road and travels to some exotic locales. The series’ star-studded sophomore season will also include guest voice appearances by Justin Timberlake, Kanye West, Snoop Dogg, Tony Hawk and cast members from the hit series GLEE.

What do you think? Are you glad to hear that Cleveland will be around for at least two more seasons?
