Clipped: TBS Sitcom Cancelled; No Season Two

Clipped TV show on TBS: canceled, no season 2TBS has cut another original comedy. The cable channel has cancelled their Clipped sitcom after one season of 10 episodes.

On Clipped, a group of very different young people who all went to high school together (but ran in very different crowds) end up working in the same barbershop in Charleston, Mass. The cast includes Ashley Tisdale, Mike Castle, Matt Cook, Lauren Lapkus, Ryan Pinkston, Diona Reasonover, and George Wendt.

The series debuted in June to lackluster ratings, garnering a 0.42 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.42 million viewers. The numbers got a bit better in later episodes but were never very good.

The season, which concluded on August 18th, averaged a 0.45 in the demo with 1.22 million.  Those numbers are about the same or worse than the other comedies that TBS cancelled earlier this year– shows like Men at Work, Sullivan & Son, and Ground Floor.

Combined with the cancellation of Your Family or Mine, this means that the cable channel will have no original comedies returning next year, other than the American Dad! animated series. TBS does have new live-action original series in the works, shows like Angie Tribeca, Wrecked, The Detour and The Group.

What do you think? Did you like the Clipped TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
