Starring Michael Ealy and Warren Kole, USA had originally planned to debut Common Law on January 26th but decided to delay it until the summer where other USA shows have found success. USA also plans to premiere their new Political Animals drama during the warmer months.

Network Kicks Off Summer Of OriginalsSeries Stars Michael Ealy, Warren Kole, Jack McGee and Sonya Walger
USA Network’s newest original series COMMON LAW, about two ace detectives who are forced into couples’ therapy to save their work relationship, will premiere Friday, May 11 at 10/9c, following an all-new FAIRLY LEGAL, which returns on Friday, March 16 at 9/8c for its sophomore season. The 12 episode one-hour series stars Michael Ealy (“The Good Wife,” “Californication”), Warren Kole (“The Chicago Code,” “24”), Jack McGee (“The Fighter,” “Rescue Me”) and Sonya Walger (“Lost,” “In Treatment”) and will run through Friday, August 10. The return to Friday is a homecoming for USA, having successfully launched three of the network’s most popular original series (MONK, PSYCH, WHITE COLLAR) on that night.
In COMMON LAW, Travis Marks (Ealy) and Wes Mitchell (Kole) have a problem – each other. Despite their differences, this odd couple set of detectives are incredible at what they love most – enforcing the law – and have a seven-year track record as the LAPD’s finest in the Robbery-Homicide Division. But when their constant bickering begins to have a major impact on their caseload, their new-age captain (McGee) institutes mandatory couples’ therapy to bring back the flame in their “work marriage.” Tough-as-nails therapist Dr. Ryan (Walger) is brought in to help them understand and resolve their conflicts and confront their demons in order to enhance their ability to continue solving crimes.
As Dr. Ryan explores their relationship, we find out these two are birds of a feather professionally, and their personal differences actually balance them out. Wes is a former lawyer whose sensitivity to an event in his life sparked his desire to become a cop but sacrificed his marriage in the process. He sees things in black and white, is responsible, compulsively organized, methodical and often over thinks decisions. Travis is a former juvenile delinquent and a maverick ladies man who has a fear of abandonment, commitment and intimacy. While he’s an open book and deeply trusts his gut instincts, he’s carefree, irresponsible, disorganized and doesn’t play by the rules. We soon learn that a successful relationship or partnership doesn’t mean you have to like the same things; you just have to hate the same things and sometimes that makes for a stronger union.
COMMON LAW is from CBS Television Studios and Junction Entertainment, and is executive produced by Jon Turteltaub (“Jericho,” “National Treasure”) and Craig Sweeny (“Medium,” “The 4400”). The series is created by Cormac Wibberley and Marianne Wibberley (“National Treasure,””Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle”) who also serve as executive producers. Dan Shotz and Karim Zreik (“Harper’s Island,” “Jericho”) of Junction Entertainment serve as co-executive producers. John McNamara (“Prime Suspect,” IN PLAIN SIGHT) serves as a consulting producer. The pilot was directed by Turteltaub.
