Community TV show on NBC: (canceled or renewed?)

The Community reunion movie is getting closer to happening, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some stumbling blocks along the way. Series creator Dan Harmon has talked about his concerns about the project, which was ordered by Peacock.

Starring Joel McHale, Yvette Nicole Brown, Donald Glover, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash, and Ken Jeong, the series follows a group of adult community college students who become friends. The original sitcom aired for six seasons between NBC and Yahoo. The movie will find the group coming together at a reunion.

The Community film has seen delays, like the rest of the television industry. The main issue with the project is scheduling, aka finding time when all of the cast members are available. A schedule had been worked out and the movie was going to film in Atlanta to ensure Glover could take part.

Now, due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, that window of time has passed. Harmon told THR, “By the time we can recoordinate, what are the odds that everyone’s schedule is going to once again align?”

Harmon feels the weight of fan expectations and noted, “I hate to say how terrified I am to do it wrong, because there’s a part of me that knows that that fear cannot possibly result in a good thing. And you’re not going to get anywhere doing an impression of what you think you should do or what you think they want, but I really don’t want to do it wrong, and it is truly terrifying. But then I’m holding on to the hope that being honest with myself about how scared I am is at least a way to break the cycle.”

What do you think? Do you like the Community TV series? Are you hopeful that a schedule can be worked out for the movie?
