What’s This TV Show About?
A musical comedy series, airing on The CW television network, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend follows the impulsive, tightly-wound Rebecca Bunch (Rachel Bloom). Ten years after he dumped her at summer camp, Rebecca runs into her old boyfriend Josh Chan (Vincent Rodriguez III). When she learns he’s leaving New York to return to West Covina, CA, she quits the top law firm which just offered her a promotion. In search of a fresh start, Rebecca flushes her anxiety and depression meds and departs for West Covina, as well. She doesn’t do it to follow Josh, though. That would be crazy! The cast also includes Santino Fontana, Donna Lynne Champlin, Pete Gardner, Vella Lovell, and Gabrielle Ruiz.
Season Two Ratings
The second season of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend averaged a mere 0.20 rating in the 18-49 demographic with a total audience of about 556,000 viewers. Telly’s Take
While this show’s ratings are quite low, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is the only CW show to win big awards and draw critical acclaim. There’s not really a big difference between this show’s numbers and some of The CW’s other shows so, it seems industry respect is enough to keep this one on the air. Unfortunately, that’s not a good long term strategy and I wouldn’t count on that reasoning to necessarily save this series next time around.
