In week two, CSI dropped by just 3% in the demo to a 3.1 rating with 11.76 million. It was in first place in the timeslot, thanks to a episode-to-episode decline for Revenge. Compared to the rest of the CBS shows, this one’s average is in the middle of the pack.

Episode 12-01: Wednesday, 9/21/11
If CBS was hoping that Ted Danson’s addition would attract a big audience for the season premiere, they were likely disappointed. In its new timeslot, the series attracted a 3.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 12.74 million viewers. It was in a close second place, behind the debut of Revenge on ABC. CSI was down year-to-year by 6% in the demo and 15% in total viewership. While the series is way past its prime, these numbers aren’t bad.

Reference point: The 2010-11 season averaged a 3.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 13.27 million viewers.

Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
