Dallas: Jess Metcalfe and Julie Gonzalo Join TNT Pilot

The proposed “next generation” version of Dallas is moving right along. TNT recently announced that they’d ordered a pilot for a potential new show that would continue the story of Dallas, this time centered around the offspring of original series characters Bobby and J.R. Ewing.

Young John Ross will be played by Josh Henderson (Desperate Housewives), J.R. and Sue Ellen’s son. Jordana Brewster will play Elana, a beauty who’s part of a love triangle between John Ross and his cousin Christopher.

Now, Jesse Metclafe, best known for playing sexy young gardener John Rowland on Desperate Housewives, has been cast in the role of Christopher Ewing, the adopted son of Bobby and Pam Ewing. Metcalfe was most recently seen as a series regular on NBC’s Chase which is all but officially cancelled.

Also joining the updated Dallas cast is Julie Gonzalo, who you might remember from her work on ABC’s Eli Stone or The CW’s Veronica Mars before that. Gonzalo will play Rebecca, Christopher’s fiancee.

Larry Hagman as J.R., Patrick Duffy as Bobby, and Linda Gray as Sue Ellen have been signed for the pilot but it’s unknown if they will continue if the pilot’s picked up as a TNT series. The project is being led by Cane creator Cynthia Cidre and Warner Horizon.

What do you think? Do you like the latest casting? Who else would you like to see?
