Dance Moms will return to Lifetime in January with the second half of season five, and season six began production began earlier this month. However, there is a chance that this reality series could have its sixth season cancelled by Lifetime because of Abby Miller current legal troubles.

Miller and her dance team have been the focus of the reality series for the last five seasons, but she could be headed to jail for five years or more. She was indicted on bankruptcy fraud earlier this week, and there are already rumors swirling that season six of the series could be scrapped because of her indictment.

Deadline reported on Miller’s indictment, which was handed down on Tuesday.

“Miller is alleged to have hidden more than $755,000 in earnings from the Lifetime reality series produced by Collins Avenue Production and related businesses from the courts and the taxman. All of which could end up costing Miller five years in prison and more than $5 million in fines if convicted.”

Miller went to her Twitter account on October 7 to reveal that production on season six of Dance Moms was starting.

Christian Post revealed that Abby Lee Dance Company has already won its first competition that will be featured in season six. The girls won first place in the “teen division after performing “The Girl in the Plastic Bubble” during the Sheer Talent Special Edition Competition in California.”

Lifetime has not spoken out about the series or a possible cancellation, but other networks have cancelled or pulled reality shows off the air when the stars of the series face legal troubles. For example, TLC pulled 19 Kids and Counting off the air amidst the Duggar family scandal earlier this year.
