Dance Moms: Season Six Starts Filming Amidst Abby Miller’s Legal Troubles

by Regina Avalos, October 16, 2015

Dance Moms will return to Lifetime in January with the second half of season five, and season six began production began earlier this month. However, there is a chance that this reality series could have its sixth season cancelled by Lifetime because of Abby Miller current legal troubles.

Miller and her dance team have been the focus of the reality series for the last five seasons, but she could be headed to jail for five years or more. She was indicted on bankruptcy fraud earlier this week, and there are already rumors swirling that season six of the series could be scrapped because of her indictment.

Deadline reported on Miller’s indictment, which was handed down on Tuesday.

“Miller is alleged to have hidden more than $755,000 in earnings from the Lifetime reality series produced by Collins Avenue Production and related businesses from the courts and the taxman. All of which could end up costing Miller five years in prison and more than $5 million in fines if convicted.”

Miller went to her Twitter account on October 7 to reveal that production on season six of Dance Moms was starting.

Christian Post revealed that Abby Lee Dance Company has already won its first competition that will be featured in season six. The girls won first place in the “teen division after performing “The Girl in the Plastic Bubble” during the Sheer Talent Special Edition Competition in California.”

Lifetime has not spoken out about the series or a possible cancellation, but other networks have cancelled or pulled reality shows off the air when the stars of the series face legal troubles. For example, TLC pulled 19 Kids and Counting off the air amidst the Duggar family scandal earlier this year.

Do you think Lifetime will pull Dance Moms off the air and cancel season six after Abby Miller’s indictment? Tell us what you think.

As a teacher for 35 years I am disgusted that Lifetime has aired a show celebrating a mentally ill, cruel, and abusive dance instructor.

Abby maybe strict when coming to corrections and who gets a solo, trio and group number at nationals but the dance moms are some times to blame by making things worse Abby is trying her best to make better dancers regardless of want going on in her life where coming up new season Abby might not be there you do not saying anything about candy apples Cathy for several seasons she should be ashamed of herself as a she is cruel, and abusive dance teacher she It all about the dancers and the Hard work they put in

Abby notwithstanding, it is the DANCERS I return to watch each week, and sometimes the moms. Put Gia in charge because SHE is a gifted choreographer and doesn’t feel the need to belittle everyone around her!!

Why should they pull the show??? The more sleaze the better it will be. That is what this country has been reduced to. People revel at other’s misfortune. That’s the way it is now. Bad commentary on the state of things, but that’s it.

If Abby is found guilty she deserves jail time and whatever else is handed down at trial. It makes me sad, though, because I love watching the girls dance not to mention the drama is captivating. Shame on her for ruining such an opportunity.

abby is a major part of this show. i could not tell if she was having a real break down or it was an act. abby wants the best and demands the best of these girls, altough the way she goes about it is unpredictable the results of winning prove she knows her stuff and every now and then i see her true love and compassion for these kids i enjoy seeing how far the girls have come and how mature they act in the midst of chaos. i hope this show continues and abby is innocent.

I don’t think it should be cancelled because it’s not really about Abby (although she’d like us to think that) it’s about the girls. It wouldn’t be fair to punish them for Abby’s lies.

Lifetime should not pull the show off of the air. Just get rid of Abbey Lee. The girls and their families are separate from Abbey Lee unlike the family affair of the Duggars. Give the mother’s an opportunity to find a new dance studio or instructor and allow us to continue to follow those girls.
