Dancing on the Edge: Chewetel Ejiofor, John Goodman Jazz Drama Coming in June to PBS

Set in the 1930s, Dancing on the Edge features black jazz musicians, the Louis Lester Band, as they rise to fame with London’s upper class society. The Dancing on the Edge TV series cast includes: Chiwetel Ejiofor, Matthew Goode, Joanna Vanderham, Wunmi Mosaku, Angel Coulby, Paul Dixon, Janet Montgomery, Jenna Coleman, Anthony Head, Allan Corduner, Mel Smith, and John Goodman.

Drama DANCING ON THE EDGE Airs Sunday, June 26 on PBS

– Chiwetel Ejiofor, John Goodman, Jacqueline Bisset and More Star in the
British Murder Mystery About the Rise and Fall of a Black Jazz Band –

ARLINGTON, VA; April 28, 2016 – PBS announced today the British murder mystery DANCING ON THE EDGE will join its Sunday night drama lineup, beginning June 26, 2016, at 8:00 p.m. ET (check local listings). The eight-part series is followed by “Endeavour” on MASTERPIECE at 9:00 p.m. ET and THE TUNNEL at 10:30 p.m. ET.

Written and directed by acclaimed writer Stephen Poliakoff (The Lost Prince), DANCING ON THE EDGE is a 1930’s period drama detailing the rise of the Louis Lester Band – a black jazz band in London led by Louis Lester, played by BAFTA Award-Winner Chiwetel Ejiofor. As the band continues to prevail, despite the racism and classism they encounter, Louis finds himself entangled in a series of unfortunate events. He becomes a suspect in a murder case, putting him on the run and possibly leading to the band’s demise. The series originally aired on Starz in 2013.

In addition to Ejiofor (12 Years A Slave, Amistad, Kinky Boots), DANCING ON THE EDGE features an all-star cast, including John Goodman (“Roseanne,” 10 Cloverfield Lane, O Brother, Where Art Thou?) as Masterson, Jacqueline Bisset as Lady Cremone – which won her a Golden Globe for her performance – Janet Montgomery (“Entourage,” “Human Target,” The Hills Run Red) as Sarah, Angel Coulby (“Merlin”) as Jessie, Wunmi Mosaku (“Joy”) as Carla, Tom Hughes (Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll) as Julian, Joanna Vanderham (“The Runaway”) as Pamela and Matthew Goode (“Downton Abbey”) as Stanley.

DANCING ON THE EDGE was produced by Ruby Film and Television and supported by Endgame Entertainment, Playground Entertainment, Creative England and LipSync Productions.
