Dancing with the Stars: Season 22 Ratings

There’s no danger of Dancing with the Stars being cancelled soon as the ABC series has already been renewed for a 23rd season for next fall. However, the network seems to be continuing to cut back on the show’s airtime. The show used to air two nights a week and this season, it looks like there will be just 11 episodes. Will the ratings go up this time around or will they continue to fall? Stay tuned.

Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews return as hosts of Dancing with the Stars while Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Bruno Tonioli are back at the judges table. Ray Chew is the bandleader once again.

The celebrity contestants for season 22 are Mischa Barton, Antonio Brown, Nyle DiMarco, Kim Fields, Doug Flutie, Marla Maples, Von Miller, Wanyá Morris, Geraldo Rivera, Jodie Sweetin, Paige VanZant, and Ginger Zee.

The dancers are Lindsay Arnold, Mark Ballas, Sharna Burgess, Witney Carson, Valentin Chmerkovskiy, Artem Chigvintsev, Tony Dovolani, Sasha Farber, Keoikantse Motsepe, Peta Murgatroyd, Edyta Śliwińska, and Karina Smirnoff.

The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. Last year comparison: The 20th cycle of Dancing with the Stars (Spring 2015) averaged a 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 13.10 million total viewers.
