Dancing with the Stars: Spring 2014 Ratings

In the fall, ABC cut Dancing with the Stars to just one broadcast a week. The ratings for that cycle were the show’s lowest in its 17 seasons on the air. Though the show is highly unlikely to be cancelled, this trend is not positive. Will the ratings continue to fall? Stay tuned.

Tom Bergeron is joined by Erin Andrews as a co-host with Bruno Tonioli, Carrie Ann Inaba and Len Goodman returning as judges. This time around, the contestants are Sean Avery, Candace Cameron Bure, Drew Carey, Meryl Davis, NeNe Leakes, James Maslow, Danica McKellar, Diana Nyad, Amy Purdy, Cody Simpson, Charlie White, and Billy Dee Williams.

The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. Last year comparison: The Monday episodes of the 16th cycle of Dancing with the Stars averaged a 2.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 14.06 million total viewers.
