Dancing with the Stars: Celebrities to Dance to TV Theme Songs

Some viewers like to sing along to the theme songs of their favorite shows, but not many dance to them. Next week they might be, though, following along with Dancing with the Stars. The reality show has confirmed that next week’s show will be all about TV theme music, seemingly all from cancelled shows. The stars themselves recently gave a few hints on some of the songs they’ll be moving to.

It’s a shame Margaret Cho has already been voted out, as the comedian would have surely had fun with this. David Hasselhoff and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino would have certainly enjoyed it as well. No doubt the “Hoff” would have been strutting his stuff to the peppy Baywatch song. Their former dancing peers will be having their own fun, though.

Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer will be dancing to the Charlie’s Angels theme, but it will be without the familiar pistol-wielding poses, as ABC won’t allow them to use or mimic guns on the broadcast. As Schwimmer cracked, “We can wear see-through clothing, but we can’t mimic guns.”

Brandy Norwood has never even heard of their song, the Rembrandts’ I’ll Be There for You. She knows of the Friends show, but interestingly has never seen the series, despite having the same birthday as Jennifer Aniston.

Rick Fox’s professional partner, Cheryl Burke, hasn’t heard the song they’ll be dancing to either. She wouldn’t reveal the name of the series, but noted she’d never heard it “because I was born in the ’80s.”

Of course, one of the most iconic TV show songs of all time is the Brady Bunch theme. Will Brady mom, Florence Henderson, and her professional partner Corky Ballas be dancing to it? The former Mrs. Brady told TV Squad that they have to get permission for it to be legally used on the show, but “I can’t imagine that they would not clear it.”

A natural choice for Alaska resident Bristol Palin and her partner Mark Ballas to dance to might be the theme from Northern Exposure. Of course, it might not be the same without a moose walking through the scene.

What do you think? Are there any other TV themes that could be used on the show? If you had to groove to one, which would you choose?
