The sixth and final season of Downton Abbey is well underway in UK, having premiered on ITV, September 20, 2015. In the US we have to wait until Sunday, January 3rd, 2016 for it to air as part of the PBS MASTERPIECE! anthology series. Per Deadline, the UK season six premiere ratings were down, but Downton Abbey still won its premiere night. Since the season has been bought, paid for, and is already in the can, fans don’t have to concern ourselves with ratings. Downton Abbey, while not “cancelled” is ending.
The Downton Abbey cast includes: Hugh Bonneville, Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Raquel Cassidy, Brendan Coyle, Michelle Dockery, Kevin Doyle, Michael Fox, Joanne Froggatt, Rob James-Collier, Phyllis Logan, Elizabeth McGovern, Sophie McShera, Lesley Nicol, David Robb, Maggie Smith, and Penelope Wilton.
