The sixth and final season of Downton Abbey is well underway in UK, having premiered on ITV, September 20, 2015. In the US we have to wait until Sunday, January 3rd, 2016 for it to air as part of the PBS MASTERPIECE! anthology series. Per Deadline, the UK season six premiere ratings were down, but Downton Abbey still won its premiere night. Since the season has been bought, paid for, and is already in the can, fans don’t have to concern ourselves with ratings. Downton Abbey, while not “cancelled” is ending.

I’m sad to see the series end. My favorite characters were those played by Maggie Smith and Penelope Wilton, I loved the way they played off each other.
The entire cast seemed to work well together. I wish them all well!

I am SO disappointed and saddened that there won’t be a Season 7 of Downton Abbey! A series with this degree of excellence is difficult to find and I just can’t imagine why it was cancelled. I, along with family and friends, will miss it very much.
It’s about time ti put the show to rest. Really good in the beginning, but slowly lost quality of the story lines, like most long running shows do. The Bate’s did he/did she murder story arc was was drawn out. Best to go when people still have good things to say and not when they want the show to disappear.
Truly one of the best shows in TV history! Beautiful settings, great writing and unforgettable acting! It will be missed by millions! And I would also have been very happy to watch it for more seasons!
Yes, I definitely would watch a season 7. I hate that it is ending. I’m going to really miss it and all the characters. What will we do without Downton?? I do hope that the preview of Edith means her husband is alive and back! Got my fingers crossed for that. Goodbye Downton Abbey, you will be missed very much.

Our family has LOVED experiencing Downton ! YES — we would have DEFINITELY watched a Season 7 !! I don’t mind waiting a few months — the anticipation & excitement is great ! 🙂
