The inaugural season of the Dynasty TV show reboot was The CW’s second-worst rated series in the demo. Numbers like the ones it earned might have seen it cancelled, but Netflix carries the show internationally, which makes it profitable regardless of its Nielsen ratings. Now that it is back for a second season, can this contemporary version of the 1980s primetime sudser cast a wider net and reel in some more viewers? Does it even have to? A CW soap opera, Dynasty stars Grant Show, Alan Dale, Elizabeth Gillies, James Mackay, Sam Adegoke, Robert Christopher Riley, Rafael de la Fuente, Ana Brenda Contreras, Maddison Brown, and Nicollette Sheridan. The drama centers on the wealthy Carrington family and the energy empire they must defend against the Colbys and other adversaries, as well as each other. Blood is thicker than water, but whether it’s dearer than oil remains to be seen.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. For comparisons: The first season of Dynasty on The CW averaged a 0.18 rating in the 18-49 year old demographic and 684,000 viewers.

Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
