Discovery Channel is headed back to the frosty north. Today, the network announced there will be a second season for Edge of Alaska.
The docuseries focuses on a remote Alaskan town undergoing massive change.
The new season of Edge of Alaska debuts on October 23rd at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
From Discovery:
(New York, NY) – Deep in the wilderness of Alaska, accessible only by bush plane or treacherous dirt road lies McCarthy, population 42. One of America’s last frontier towns, only those with true skills and determination can survive in this harsh, remote environment. While many came here to escape modern society and live independent and free, one resident has a vision to capitalize on McCarthy’s scenic landscape for what could be one of America’s greatest and most unique tourism opportunities. Last season, with the forces of change set in motion the once tightknit community was left divided on McCarthy’s future. Now, as the dangerous hidden force behind these changes is revealed, the battle to preserve the McCarthy way of life reaches a point of no return in the all new season of EDGE OF ALASKA, premiering Sunday, October 23 at 10PM.
Having divided the town with his ambitious project to open the old Motherload copper mine to tourism, resident businessman Neil Darish’s impulsive decisions have now sent him over budget and behind schedule, forcing a mysterious silent investor to pay Neil a tense visit. Farmsteader Jeremy Keller, who came to McCarthy to raise his family off the grid, has always opposed Neil’s plans to profit and modernize. But now, with the threat of an outsider so dangerously close to taking over McCarthy, Jeremy and his family will face the greatest turning point of their lives.
EDGE OF ALASKA is produced by Twofour America, where Bernie Schaeffer, Roger Roddy, Melanie Leach and Andrew Mackenzie are executive producers. For Discovery Channel, Mitchell Rosenbaum is executive producer and Lisbeth Lozano is coordinating producer.”
