Empire will return with the second half of its third season next month, and Danny Strong recently spoke about the future of the drama in an interview with Deadline.
Empire has been a breakout hit for FOX, and there is no end in sight. Strong teased that fans will see the impact of Trump’s presidency at some point on the series. He is still working on episodes for season three. He said the following:
“We haven’t gotten through the finale yet, but of course, how can Trump becoming President not affect a show like Empire?”
Strong also teased a bit about the Empire spin-off that is in the works. He said:
“It’s still early going, but it’s definitely in the mix. You know, they had talked to us about doing it at the beginning of Season 2. Lee and I were very uncomfortable with it, at that point. We’re like, “We’re just starting Season 2, and we’re talking about a spin-off? Let’s just keep the show going for a while and focus on this show.” I think going into Season 4, where we are now, it doesn’t feel wrong at all.”
