Have Empire fans seen the last of Jussie Smollett as Jamal Lyon, on Empire? A recent tweet by the actor singer/song-writer reads like a swan song to the FOX drama series. Smollett plays Lucious (Terrence Howard) and Cookie’s (Taraji P. Henson) middle son.
Warning: spoilers for last’s night’s “Rise by Sin,” episode and the Empire season two finale, “Past Is Prologue.”
The May 11th episode of Empire, “Rise by Sin,” saw Jamal undergoing emergency surgery for a gunshot wound. Smollett tweeted a series of messages in reaction to the episode, the latter of which we have embedded below. It was the final tweet that seemed to announce this is the end of his time on the Empire TV series.
In his most recent tweet from Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, Smollett said, “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time w/ @EmpireFOX. I love you all. Truth. Time 2 make a record & some movies. #Empire 🌹”
