Empire revolves around Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard), the CEO of a successful hip hop music company, and his family. Lucious has three ambitious sons — business-minded Andre (Trai Byers), gay musician Jamal (Jussie Smollett), and fame-obsessed musician Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) — as well as an ex-wife named Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) who served time in prison for her husband. In one way or another, they all want to control the family empire. The rest of the cast includes Grace Gealey, Ta’Rhonda Jones, Serayah McNeill, and Gabourey Sidibe.
