Faking It: Showrunner Promises Happy Ending for Cancelled MTV Series

Faking It TV show on MTV

Don’t worry, Faking It fans. Executive producer and showrunner Carter Covington told TVLine the cancelled MTV series will have a satisfying ending.

Last week, we reported the network had cancelled the show after three seasons. Faking It stars Rita Volk and Katie Stevens as two friends who fake being a lesbian couple only to have one of them really develop feelings for the other.

When asked about the upcoming series finale, Covington said Amy and Karma will “be in a good place” by the end:

I didn’t want the fans to be left literally hanging off a cliff. I wanted there to be some sort of resolution. I felt that it was most important for Amy and Karma to be in a good place, and for Amy and Karma to be happy. If we’d ended in a place where Amy was still unhappy, it would have felt very unrewarding.”

He added that there were many stories that had to be left out of the final season due to time constraints:

We had so many story ideas that we put into the season in case we didn’t get more. Sabrina’s journey, Noah’s journey … those definitely felt rushed. And our show is already fast-paced as it is! I wish we’d had more time to let those stories breathe and evolve, but that being said, I think we told them in as efficiently as possible to still be rewarding.”

The series finale of Faking It airs tonight, May 17th,  at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT.

What do you think? Do you watch the MTV series? Are you sad it’s ending?
