Based on the DC Comics series, The Flash revolves around young police scientist Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) who’s struck by lightning in a freak accident. He finds that he has super speed and decides to use his abilities as a masked hero. The show also stars Jesse L. Martin, Tom Cavanagh, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, and Carlos Valdes.
The ratings for season three of The Flash are down slightly — averaging a 1.15 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.05 million viewers — but it remains the highest-rated show on The CW. It was a given that the scarlet speedster and company would be back for a fourth year.
The next original episode of season three airs on January 24th.
The CW also renewed six other TV shows today — Arrow (season six), Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (season three), DC’s Legends of Tomorrow (season three), Jane the Virgin (season four), Supergirl (season three), and Supernatural (season 13).
We already know that Reign and The Vampire Diaries are ending this season. No Tomorrow and Frequency are expected to be cancelled and The Originals’ future will likely be decided once the ratings come in for the upcoming fourth season, starting in March.
What do you think? Do you still like The Flash TV show? Are you glad that it’s been renewed for a fourth season or, should it have been cancelled instead?
