The Flash: Season Four Ratings

For its first three years on the air, The Flash was been The CW’s highest-rated TV show. How long can it retain the number one ranking? Is this the year when it falls behind in the Nielsens ratings race? Will The Flash be cancelled or renewed for season five? Stay tuned.

A superhero drama, based on the DC Comics, The Flash stars Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes, Tom Cavanagh, Jesse L. Martin, and Keiynan Lonsdale. The CW TV series centers on police scientist Barry Allen (Gustin) who develops super speed after a dark-matter lightning strike. Behind his mask, Barry uses his powers to protect the people of Central City from many a dark force.

The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. For comparisons: The third season of The Flash averaged a 1.06 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.84 million total viewers.

Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
