PIVOT AND SKY ATLANTIC GREENLIGHT SEASON TWO OF THE CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED DRAMA SERIES “FORTITUDE”

LOS ANGELES (April 9, 2015) – Participant Media’s television network, Pivot, and Sky Atlantic, today announced a second season of the highly praised drama, “Fortitude,” ahead of the finale of the first season, tonight at 10 p.m. ET.

Called “engrossing” (Associated Press) and “worth watching for the icy-cool atmospherics alone” (Entertainment Weekly), the first season of the Sky/Pivot original series launched in January on Pivot to critical acclaim, quickly becoming the most popular original series for the network to date.

“From the first episode, audiences responded to the incredibly rich world Simon Donald created, where nature and civilization collide with catastrophic results. We’re excited to announce that ‘Fortitude’ will be back for another season of suspense and chaos,” said Kent Rees, general manager, Pivot.

The first season of “Fortitude,” led by an all-star cast including Stanley Tucci, Michael Gambon, Sofie Grabol, Richard Dormer and Christopher Eccleston, told the story of a close-knit community thrown into turmoil by a violent crime. Above-average temperatures in the Arctic town reveal more than just a crime, and “Fortitude” transports viewers through a world of intrigue and suspense.

Zai Bennett, Channel Director, Sky Atlantic, said: “Simon Donald created a unique and unsettling story which, week after week, has captivated audiences. I am absolutely delighted that we will be bringing ‘Fortitude’ back next year with a story that promises to engage, challenge and enthral us all over again. ”

“Fortitude” is a Sky/Pivot Original Series, with international distribution handled by Sky Vision. It has successfully sold across the globe with 100 sales to international broadcasters including ABC Australia, Superchannel Canada, OTE Greece, and Canal+ France which has made it Sky Vision’s most successful show to date.

The series is created, written, and executive produced by Simon Donald. Jeff Skoll and Chris Loveall serve as executive producers for Pivot on season two. Patrick Spence and Frith Tiplady serve as executive producers for Fifty Fathoms and Tiger Aspect. Anne Mensah and Lizzie Gray serve as executive producers for Sky Atlantic.
