Friday Night Lights may be the next series to get the reboot treatment. A reboot is currently in the works at Universal TV, with original series showrunner Jason Katims, developer Pete Berg, and executive producer Brian Grazer behind the series.

The original series, based on a book by H.G. Bissinger and a 2004 feature film, premiered on NBC in 2006 and aired there for five seasons. The final three seasons aired on DirecTV’s The 101 Network first, before being shown on NBC.

Kyle Chandler, Connie Britton, Taylor Kitsch, Jesse Plemons, Minka Kelly, Adrianne Palicki, Jurnee Smollett, Michael B. Jordan, Matt Lauria, and more starred in the Friday Night Lights series, which follows a high school football team in Dillon, Texas.

According to Deadline, the reboot would likely tell an entirely new story set in the world of high school football. It is still in the early stages of development, but the project is now being shopped around.

What do you think? Did you watch Friday Night Lights on NBC? Would you check out a reboot if it happened? Would you like to see any original characters in it?
