Friday TV Show Ratings: Nikita, Shark Tank, CSI: NY, Blue Bloods, ANTM

Friday, October 19, 2012 ratings — Season premiere: Nikita. New episodes: Shark Tank, America’s Next Top Model, Primetime: What Would You Do?, Grimm, CSI: NY, 20/20, Blue Bloods, and Dateline. Sports: MBL playoffs. Repeats: Hawaii Five-0 and Grimm.

On ABC, Shark Tank continues to grow and registered a 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.04 million viewers. That represents a week-to-week demo increase of 20%. At 9pm, Primetime benefited from the strong lead-in and garnered a 1.6 in the demo (+14%) and 4.93 million. That was followed by 20/20 which drew a 1.4 rating (0% change) with 5.42 million.

On CBS, a rerun of Hawaii Five-0 started the night with a 0.8 demo rating and 5.94 million. CSI: NY dropped to a 1.2 rating (-14%) and 9.12 million and Blue Bloods hit a 1.3 rating (-8%) with 10.03 million. Perhaps last week’s increases weren’t due to Made in Jersey’s disappearance as they seem to be temporary.

On NBC, a rerun of Grimm drew a 0.6 rating with 2.62 million. An original Grimm attracted a 1.4 demo rating (-13%) with 4.87 million. Then, at 10pm, Dateline drew a 1.3 rating (0% week-to-week change) with 5.0 million viewers.

On FOX, the baseball playoffs drew an average 1.7 rating in the demo with 6.36 million viewers.

And on The CW, recently-renewed America’s Next Top Model garnered a 0.6 demo rating (+20%) with 1.47 million. That was followed by the season premiere of Nikita with a 0.3 rating and 0.95 million. Compared to last year’s debut, Nikita was down by 50% in the demo (vs a 0.6 rating) and down by 49% in viewership (vs 1.85 million). Not a good start but it’s unknown how low the series will have to drop for The CW to cancel it, especially since it’s nearing an episode total that would work in syndication.

What do you think? Did you expect Nikita to perform better? Should the CW have renewed it? Are you surprised by the ABC increases or the CBS declines? What were you watching last night?
