Friend Me: What Happened to the CBS Comedy?

CBS TV showIt doesn’t look like viewers will ever get to see Friend Me. CBS has decided to shelve the comedy series and won’t be airing the produced episodes.

Co-created by Ajay Sahgal and Alan Kirschenbaum, Friend Me revolves around two young best friends (Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Nicholas Braun) who move from Indiana to Los Angeles to work for Groupon. While one wants to recreate himself in the big city, the other wants to hold onto his hometown roots and relationships. Others in the cast include Amanda Lund, Dan Ahdoot, Parvesh Cheena, and Steve Talley.

The sitcom was ordered to series in May 2012 and was expected to debut mid-season. Kirschenbaum tragically took his own life in October 2012 and the network opted not to include the show in their mid-season plans in December.

The show’s fate still seemed up in the air but, at the recent TCA Summer Press Tour, it was confirmed that CBS won’t be moving forward with the series. They have no plans to air the produced episodes.

What do you think? Were you looking forward to watching Friend Me? Did CBS make the right call?
