The show is based on A Song of Ice and Fire, George R. R. Martin’s series of fantasy novels (the first is titled A Game of Thrones). It was a huge return for the fantasy series. The season two premiere outperformed the series debut by 122% in the demo (vs a 0.9 rating) and 74% in total viewers (vs 2.22 million).


Reference point: Season one of Game of Thrones averaged a 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.52 million total viewers.

Cable ratings are typically released within a day or so of the show’s airing, except for in the case of weekends and holidays. They are sometimes harder to come by so there may be occasional delays or gaps.
