Game of Thrones has two more seasons left before the series ends its run on HBO, but there is a possibility of still more from the world of Game of Thrones after the series ends with season eight.
David Benioff and Dan Weiss are both open to a possible spin-off, but any real discussion about a spin-off will not begin until after Game of Thrones is off the air. However, there are preliminary discussions already in process.
During a recent podcast, the duo said the following about a potential spin-off, according to Digital Spy:
“One of the great things about what George [RR Martin] did is he didn’t just build a story… he built a world,” they enthused. [There’s] so many characters and such a rich detailed history behind it that there are a lot of different ways you could go with it.”
