What’s This TV Show About?
A dark comedy-drama on the EPIX premium cable channel, Get Shorty stars Chris O’Dowd, Ray Romano, Sean Bridgers, Lidia Porto, Megan Stevenson, Goya Robles, Lucy Walters, and Carolyn Dodd. Nevada hitman Miles Daly (O’Dowd), wants to get out of the mob and win back his wife. While in Hollywood on mob business, he connects with movie producer, Rick Moreweather (Romano), and studio executive, April (Stevenson). Miles does what he must to convince them to board his project. Now he just has to keep his fledgling filmmaking career separate from his dealings for the mob, even as he’s using his boss to fund the production.
On August 23, 2017, Get Shorty was renewed for a second season which will debut August 12, 2018. Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
We’ve never tracked an EPIX TV series before and the channel isn’t part of the Nielsen ratings. Therefore, it’s difficult to predict whether they’ll cancel or renew Get Shorty for season two. Flying blind, I think it will score a season two renewal. EPIX seems to be building up its original programming. Also, the title is familiar to fans of both Elmore Leonard’s 1990 novel and the 1995 film starring John Travolta and Gene Hackman, and should draw in viewers. I’ll update this page from time to time.
