Will The Goldbergs be back for a fifth season? Deadline reports Pop has acquired the syndication rights to the ABC TV show.
Set in the 1980s, the sitcom revolves around a family from Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. The cast includes Sean Giambrone, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Troy Gentile, Hayley Orrantia, George Segal, Jeff Garlin, and Patton Oswalt as the narrator.
Typically, syndication bodes well for a series and The Goldbergs is already doing well on ABC. So far, season four is averaging a 1.79 rating in the 18-49 demo and 6.217 million viewers, making it one of the network’s top comedies.
The Goldbergs will begin airing on Pop this fall.
From Pop president Brad Schwartz:
It was a big swing for us to go after something so fresh off-network. Even though it’s a new show, because it’s so nostalgic, it would fit perfectly with all the other shows that are on our network.”
