Fans don’t have to spend much time worrying if The Goldbergs TV show will be cancelled at the conclusion of the fifth season. ABC already renewed it through season six, back in May of 2017. Even though it is still a top-five ratings earner for the Alphabet network, every show has a natural shelf-life, so how much longer will we enjoy this family’s company? Will The Goldbergs be cancelled or renewed beyond the sixth season? Stay tuned.
A 1980s period sitcom, The Goldbergs stars Hayley Orrantia, Troy Gentile, Sean Giambrone, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Sam Lerner, Patton Oswalt (narrator), and AJ Michalka, with George Segal and Jeff Garlin. The ABC comedy centers on a family from Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. Youngest son Adam (Giambrone) videotapes his family’s craziness and provides commentary as an adult (Oswalt). In season five, the siblings will struggle with huggies, snuggies and nubbies, as they learn what it means to grow up as a Goldberg.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. Last year comparison: The fourth season of The Goldbergs averaged a 1.73 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.084 million total viewers (live + same day ratings).
