Compared to its golden era of must-see TV, NBC does not currently have a very big comedy slate. And although The Good Place and Superstore have already been renewed, new sitcom Trial & Error‘s Nielsen numbers are on the tepid side. Meanwhile, Powerless finds itself at the bottom of the television ratings barrel, and is likely to be cancelled. Will Great News spell good news for the Peacock Network? Cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned.
A family and workplace comedy series, the Great News TV show stars Briga Heelan, Andrea Martin, John Michael Higgins, Nicole Richie, Adam Campbell, Horatio Sanz, and Tracey Wigfield. The NBC TV series follows 30 year old Katie Wendelson (Heelan). Bright, determined, and resourceful, Katie is a news producer on The Breakdown, a national cable news show out of Secaucus, New Jersey, but feels like her career trajectory has stalled. Meanwhile, Katie’s mother Carol (Martin) has both boundary issues and a new internship on her show. Although Katie isn’t thrilled with this development, she appreciates Carol’s support and faith in her.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/24 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
