Great News: Season Two Ratings

Great News TV show on NBC: ratings cancel or season 3?)Debuting as a midseason replacement, the Great News TV show didn’t bring “great news” for NBC in the ratings department. Despite pretty low ratings, the peacock network execs decided to stick with this workplace comedy and ordered a second season. Will the numbers improve in season two? Will this sitcom be cancelled or renewed for season three? Stay tuned.

Great News stars Briga Heelan, Andrea Martin, Adam Campbell, Nicole Richie, Horatio Sanz, and John Michael Higgins. This NBC sitcom revolves around Katie Wendelson (Heelan), a frustrated cable news producer. Her work and personal lives collide when her stay-at-home mom, Carol (Martin), decides to follow her dreams and gets an internship on Katie’s national news show. It’s Katie’s worst nightmare, until she realizes that having her biggest cheerleader at her side does have its advantages.

The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.

For comparisons: The first season of Great News averaged a 0.78 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.35 million viewers (live + same day ratings).

Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
