Grey’s Anatomy fans can expect some big drama on the series when it returns for season 13 on ABC next month. Caterina Scorsone spoke about what’s next on the drama at the TCA’s. She also revealed that she is expecting a second child.

Will that pregnancy be written in for her character next season? Scorsone revealed that it is not likely. She said the following, according to Entertainment Weekly:

“I don’t think so. I think they don’t want to burn through all that story, but I also think that last time they wrote my pregnancy in, and I think Shonda [Rhimes] is going to give me a break on this one.”

She revealed more about what fans will see for Amelia and Owen:

“The rapidity with which they got married is going to be a piece of their story. It took that level of spontaneity to get them down the aisle. If they had waited any longer, the nerves would have won. But now they have to figure out how to be married. That’s a big question for anybody, let alone two people who are deeply wounded. A lot of their story this year will be negotiating this whole different dynamic, sharing a life and being vulnerable when you’re terrified of all of that stuff.”

While pregnancy is not in the cards for her character, there are big things planned for two other characters on the series. Season 13 will pick up right where season 12 left off, and the finale ended with some big developments for Jo and Alex.

Season 13 will dive into her past after it was revealed that she changed her identity to escape an abusive relationship. Scorsone said the following about that storyline, according to TV Line:

“It got messy for them, but that’s going to become a really multi-layered story that has social and personal overtones…. It’s a real opportunity to explore some important issues.”
