Grey’s Anatomy fans were teased with a new romance for Meredith Grey at the end of the season 12. That romance will continue to be a focus for season 13 of the ABC series, and Martin Henderson teased a bit about the connection between Meredith and Nathan to TV Line.
Why do they connect? Both have lost someone – the someone that was potentially the love of their lives. Henderson said it is that shared past that bonds them together. He said:
“I think that’s always really powerful between a couple. [It] may be fertile ground for them to actually have a relationship with some meaning.”
Henderson also teased a bit about what fans will see if the relationship between the pair moves forward. He teased the following:
“Nathan is irreverent and kind of calls Meredith on her s—, and that might be really good for her, because he doesn’t take [things] all that seriously. It might be nice for her to have the opportunity to actually lighten up a bit around some stuff.”
Meredith has always been dark and twisty, but she has always had a fun side. She just needs someone to bring that out of her.
