Is Meredith Grey leaving Grey’s Anatomy? Recently, star Ellen Pompeo spoke with EW about her future on the ABC TV show.
Pompeo has played Dr. Meredith Grey on the long-running medical drama since it premiered in 2005. The cast also includes Justin Chambers, Chandra Wilson, James Pickens Jr., Kevin McKidd, Jessica Capshaw, Sarah Drew, Jesse Williams, Caterina Scorsone, Camilla Luddington, Kelly McCreary, Jason George, and Martin Henderson.
In the interview, Pompeo said she thinks Grey’s Anatomy is nearing its end and she’s looking for a change:
I’m clearly not prepared right now to make any formal announcement about what my future is on the show, but I am really feeling like we have told the majority of the stories that we can tell. It’s about time that I mix it up. I’m definitely looking for a change.”
It’s unclear when/if Pompeo will leave the ABC series, but her contract runs through season 16 which is slated to end in 2020.
Season 15 of Grey’s Anatomy premieres on September 27th at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
