Once Upon A Time Co-Executive Producer Scott Nimerfro dead at 54

Writer and producer Scott Nimerfro has died at the age of 54. A co-executive producer on ABC‘s Once Upon a Time TV series from 2014 to 2016, Nimerfro is credited for writing three episodes in the fourth season: “Breaking Glass” (with Kalinda Vazquez), “Shattered Sight,” and “Heart of Gold” (both with Tze Chun). Mr. Nimerfro wrote and produced many cancelled or ended series, including Hannibal, TRON: Uprising, Ringer, The Gates, Pushing Daisies, Perversions of Science, ‘Til Death Do Us Part, The Outer Limits, and the original Tales from the Crypt TV show, which is being revived by TNT.

Nimerfro’s last TV credit is for the March 6, 2016 episode of Once, “Souls of the Departed.” In a statement to TV Series Finale, Once Upon a Time creator Adam Horowitz said, “Scott was a dear friend and an amazingly talented writer. He touched so many with his talent and creativity but, above all else, he was a lovely soul who we all miss terribly.”

Nimerfro had been diagnosed with Angiosarcoma and discusses living with the illness, here. The Hollywood Reporter (THR) confirmed his death with a representative at the WME agency.

Pushing Daisies and Hannibal boss, Bryan Fuller, tweeted about Nimerfro’s death, saying, “RIP @ScottNimerfro BELOVED #HANNIBAL WRITER OF BLOOD EAGLES & MUSHROOM CORPSES NOW FREAKING OUT SQUARES IN NEXT LIFE.”

 

 

Horowitz also tweeted about Nimerfor’s passing, saying: “RIP to our dear friend and #OnceUponATime colleague @ScottNimerfro — a lovely man and a true talent, we love and miss you.” Later, he retweeted a link to THR‘s report on Nimerfro’s death, adding, “Our hearts are broken but filled with loving memories.”

 

 

Nimerfro got his start in the business as a production assistant on the 1987 film, Planes, Trains & Automobiles. He began his writing career as a story supervisor in 1993 on Tales from the Crypt. He would go on to pen 11 episodes of the classic horror series.
