The Hap and Leonard TV show on SundanceTV may soon be renewed for a second season. Deadline reports the network is looking for a new showrunner and is close to renewing the series, starring James Purefoy and Michael Kenneth Williams. Reportedly, the second season pickup would be for six episodes, which was the length of the first season.

Deadline says:

The plan is for Season 2 to be based on Landale’s 1994 book Mucho Mojo, the second in the Hap and Leonard series. It revolves around the death of Leonard Pine’s Uncle Chester who happens to live next to a crack house. Under the floorboards of his uncle’s house the two discover the skeleton of an infant wrapped in child pornography. Leonard refuses to believe his uncle could be involved so he enlists the help of Hap to solve the murder and clear his uncle.

A darkly comedic drama, Hap and Leonard is set in the late 1980s in the fictional East Texas town of LaBorde. The dramedy follows two best friends who get in trouble, when their get-rich-quick plan escalates into pandemonium. The Hap and Leonard first season finale, “Eskimos,” aired April 6, 2016.

What do you think? Are you a fan of the Hap and Leonard TV series? Would you watch a second season on SundanceTV?
