4/13 Update: Cancellation cancelled. Sundance TV has issued a correction.  The Hap and Leonard: Mucho Mojo TV show is not ending with the season two finale episode, “No Mo’ Mojo.” The Hap and Leonard TV season two finale airs on SundanceTV on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 10:00pm ET/PT.

In final episode of the season, SundanceTV says Hap (James Purefoy) and Leonard (Michael Kenneth Williams) will find the missing piece “hidden in plain sight.” As the investigation comes full circle, the guys will seek revenge for past transgressions. Hap and Leonard: Mucho Mojo also stars Brian Dennehy, Irma P. Hall, Dohn Norwood, Tiffany Mack, and Cranston Johnson.

SundanceTV says:

Inspired by the second book in the famed series by Joe R. Lansdale, “Hap and Leonard: Mucho Mojo” follows two lifelong best friends — Hap Collins and Leonard Pine – as they find themselves in mucho-trouble, caught in the middle of a murder mystery with more twists and turns than an East Texas highway. Set in the late 1980s, the story begins with a skeleton, Trudy’s missing ashes, a literal pissing match with a neighborhood drug dealer and a piece of MeMaw’s famous pie.

Rounding out the cast in this six-episode anthology series are Brian Dennehy (“Death of a Salesman,” “First Blood”) Irma P. Hall (“A Family Thing,” “Soul Food”), Dohn Norwood (“All the Way,” “Hell on Wheels”), Tiffany Mack (Wicked Love, “iZombie”) and Cranston Johnson (“Atlanta,” Find a Way).

John Wirth (“Hell on Wheels,” “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”) is showrunner and executive producer for the second season, and Jim Mickle, Nick Damici, Jeremy Platt, Linda Moran and Nick Shumaker return as executive producers, along with co-executive producers Joe R. Lansdale and Lowell Northrop.

And the story doesn’t end there, Hap and Leonard fans. Sundance.tv is also heading back to Hap and Leonard’s teenage years in the exclusive digital release of two short stories from Joe R. Lansdale’s most recent book Hap and Leonard: Blood and Lemonade.

The first story, “Not Our Kind,” is available now.

The second story, “In the River of the Dead,” will first be available to those subscribed to the “Hap and Leonard” newsletter and doled out in weekly chapters throughout the run of the “Hap and Leonard: Mucho Mojo” season.

Explanation: We received a press release that read as if the Hap and Leonard TV show would end with season two, as it called the episode “the final episode.” And since the series’ full title is Hap and Leonard: Mucho Mojo, and the season two finale is entitled, “No Mo’ Mojo,” you can see how we might have arrived at that conclusion.

But we didn’t stop there. Editorial reached out and asked if “No Mo’ Mojo” was the final episode, and they confirmed it was. It seems that was in error. SundanceTV has confirmed to us that Hap and Leonard has not yet been cancelled or renewed for season three. Stay tuned.

We apologize for the confusion. [–Cindy]
