According to Deadline, Sony TV has quietly approached other channels like USA Network and NBC about picking up the low-rated series if ABC drops it. According to the report, USA looks like a real possibility because the cable channel has been looking to get into half hour comedies and had previously ordered some sitcom pilots.
If Happy Endings can be saved, it will be yet another case of Sony TV successfully fighting to keep their shows on the air. The studio previously worked out deals to keep Rules of Engagement, Damages, Unforgettable, Breaking In, and Drop Dead Diva alive.
At the end of this season, Happy Endings will have 57 episodes in the can. That’s not enough for a lucrative syndication package so Sony has good reason to want to work out a deal to keep the show going for at least one or two more seasons.
What do you think? Would you watch Happy Endings on a cable channel? Do you think the series will be saved? Should be saved?
